The Ultimate Christian Guide To Locking Down Your Facebook Profile

What exactly is Facebook? Good question right? We have all been using Facebook but do we actually know what it is. Facebook in reality is spyware. Spyware is something your anti-virus tries to pick up because it is a piece of malicious software that spies on you unawares and uses your personal  information to generate profit for the author of the program.

Facebook admits this is the intention of their service:

“We don’t charge you to use Facebook or the other products and services covered by these Terms. Instead, businesses and organisations pay us to show you ads for their products and services. By using our Products, you agree that we can show you ads that we think will be relevant to you and your interests. We use your personal data to help determine which ads to show you”(Source

Such personal information includes literally everything you do on Facebook like the location of your cursor on the screen if you are on desktop and the length of time you spend viewing something on your news feed. Everything you like and share and comment on. Your friends and friends of your friends including all their interests and interactions are all monitored and used by Facebook to display as many ads that will get you to buy something (Source).

I don’t know about you but I joined Facebook in 2007 to chat with friends, stay on top of trending news and preach the Gospel. Facebook originally did not use your information to show you ads. Facebook has changed and you need to change how you use their service.

You Need To Lock Down Your Facebook Account Now

Times are changing and everything you publish on the internet can and will be used against you. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but maybe several years from now.

Cancel culture is real and people have been held under the fire for online comments or creative works that have been made decades ago. This information could be used to discriminate against you, particularly if you are expressing Christian morals. In Europe it is already a reality for Christians.

You might find yourself out of a job in the future and unable to get an interview because someone in a HR department does a quick Facebook search of your name and finds content that they find morally repugnant. This is called your digital footprint and I’m going to show you what you can do to prevent such discrimination from negatively affecting you and your family.

Jesus Was Bold & Wise: You Need To Bold & Wise

I am not in any way insinuating that we should cower away and fear man (Proverbs 29:25). In fact the reason I am going to tell you how to lock your Facebook account down is so that you can speak with boldness with Christian conviction and not worry about the consequences that doing so in a politically correct society could bring to you and your family.

Jesus knew that the world was against Him (Matthew 12:30), He knew that people were listening to His words ready to accuse Him of blasphemy and bring a charge against Him to kill Him (John 8:40). Jesus warns us that the world will not love us, in fact we can’t be treated better than our Master and should not expect to (John 15:18-25). Jesus spoke in parables which allowed him to speak with boldness but diffuse any attacks against Him.

Facebook can change their Terms of Service at any time, laws can change anytime, what the culture deems tolerable today could be deemed illegal tomorrow. If your account is suspended you might not be able to go back and delete content that is public. This information could be used against you, so you need to act now to lock your Facebook profile down.

Now that you understand the importance of protecting your identity and privacy on Facebook I’m going to show you my step by step guide to get your Facebook profile optimized for online Christian outreach.
